"Dalton"

Meet Dalton, a 13 year-old Morgan/Standardbred cross. He rides both English and Western and won 3 second place ribbons at a gymkhana. Dalton takes good care of 9 year old Julie out on the trails and is her best friend. She says that he is kind and patient with people who don't know how to ride or are scared of horses.
Runners-up
"Buddy"

This is Pioneer Buddy, a 27 year-old Quarter Horse I have had Buddy now for 12 years in August, he is the love of my life.

Back in 1972 my parents lost our barn in a fire, though the horses were saved. The barn was attached to my father's business, and my dad lost everything in his shop and had to move his horse, Flicka to a distant farm. In 1995 my Father passed away never to see Flicka again.

When my granddaughter wanted to learn to ride, my husband took me out to shop for a horse. We went to look at horses and the farm owner had a horse the owners have not seen in a year, and might want to sell. He brought the horse out of a paddock and my husband and I looked at each other and said, "Oh my God it's Flicka", the farm hand hands me the lead and says I want to introduce you to Buddy. I got goose bumps all over my arms. You see my Father's nickname was Buddy.

I called for 7 weeks to see if he was for sale or not, we went to visit him every weekend, and then one day the phone rang and sure enough Buddy was mine. When Buddy arrived at the barn, he saw me and gave out the biggest and loudest whinny you have ever heard.
"Miller"

This is Old Spanish Mill RT...aka "Miller". He is a 13 year old Appendix Quarter Horse who blessed my life at the tender age of 2, when he was purchased at a horse sale in Missouri. I fell in love with him at first sight. He has truly matured into a wonderful partner and friend. We compete in Judged Pleasure Rides over courses ranging from 10-12 miles long with as many obstacles along the way. The obstacles can be anything from crossing a stream to doing a side pass with a quarter turn on the forehand to face a judge. This particular obstacle involved taking a rope from the wooden post and then backing your horse as you pull the bag of empty cans from off of the table. Your horse has to stay in the marked off area near the post as he is backing and cannot panic when the cans hit the ground. Miller always trusts me in what I ask him to do and certainly gives it his all. In 2009, he finished as Reserve Champion overall and I am very proud of him.
"Renegade"

Renegade is a 15 year old Mustang gelding who prefers to be ridden western. He  served as a hard working trail ride horse for 8 years. For my 15th birthday party I took a trail ride and rode him, he was so gentle and willing that he gave me love for Mustangs that will last for my whole life. About a year later I began my search for my first horse, it crossed my mind that I should ask if I could buy Renegade and they said sure! I have currently had Renegade for just over a week and I love him already! He is so sweet and willing, he always takes good care of me whenever I work with him or ride him.
"Rascal"

Here is our boy Rascal, a tiny horse next to a small tractor. Rascal loves the farm. He can be found in mom's flower bed or on the back porch. His mom Bailey keeps pretty good tabs on him though. Rascal is an AMHA registered horse and is only 2 weeks old. He is only 18 inches tall but is all horse! He loves to neigh and scratch.
"Lover Boy"

This is my mule, Lover Boy. He is 9 yrs old. We do a lot of trail riding. He is very special to me, was born on my farm, and is my love. He takes care of me on the trail and gets along with everybody. He LOVES spearmint candies, horse treats of any kind, being brushed, and mostly a good scratch on the behind.
"Tatty"

Tatty is half Paint and half Quarter horse who just turned 7. He is just full of life, energy and love. Every time I come outside he whinnies for me as if to say "What are going to do today Mom?" He takes such good care of me on or off the trail. He has taught me about Natural Horsemanship, patience and understanding. I couldn't imagine my life without Tatty.
"Onica"

Onica is a 2 year old Clydesdale mare. We are going to be doing driving and western riding. She is watching my husband fish in this photo. She is always part of the action!
"Majiic"

Meet "Majiic" who is mugging for the camera . He is a purebred Egyptian Arabian who is trained to smile on command. Here he is wearing a kid's cap and clown sunglasses. He is a great loving horse.
